This option enables the user to create a fresh Introspective data file. The user is prompted for a file name. The file name is the name of a year. File names must be exactly four characters in length and be greater then 1903. The journal entry window is then opened.
Open…
Open empowers the user to open an Introspective data file. Once the file is selected, the user is prompted for an access code for the file. Introspective then attempts to decode this file. If the decoding is successful the journal entry window opens. If the file that is opened is the current year, the journal opens to the current date, otherwise the journal opens at the first day of the year.
Close
This option saves the current topic entry and closes the journal entry window. After the window is closed the file is automatically re-encoded with the access code that opened it.
Note: If this is a new Introspective data file, before the window will close, the user is prompted for an access code to save the file under. Access codes should be at least 6 characters in length, with longer codes being the more secure.
Page Setup…
This menu item allows the user to set certain printer parameters used in printing journal topic entries. Consult the printer documentation for more information about its page setup.
Print…
Prints the current topic to the currently selected printer or other output device.
Search…
This selection allows the user to investigate the current Introspective file for any occurrence of a specified string:

Example: If the user were to enter the word ”family” as the search string, the search command would look through the entire file until coming across the word “family”. The topic whether a date or whatever would then be immediately displayed. The search can then be continued with the “Search Next“ command from the last topic successfully located.
Search Next
“Search Next“ continues a quest started with the “Search…“ command.
Quit
This option first saves any changes in the journal entry window. “Quit“ then closes the journal entry window and re-encodes the Introspective file.
